An intimate quarantine wedding | Livonia, MI

The spring of 2020 is one for the world history books. With nearly the whole world shut down due to Covid-19, most people spent their time wishing this season would end quickly so they could resume their normal lives. Businesses were closed. Weddings were canceled.

Andrea and Saiprakash decided to make their own history instead. And what a joyful celebration it was!

This beautiful couple tied the knot just after the Michigan stay at home order was relaxed enough for their intimate ceremony to proceed. They said “I do” in front of 8 of their closest family members and friends (with the rest of their families and friends watching the live stream on Zoom, of course!). Their intimate wedding was so beautiful that I found myself falling in love with the idea of small weddings. There is something so special about starting a marriage with only your fiercest supporters there beside you.

While their quarantine wedding was perfect in every way, they did trade a traditional fancy venue for a small reception in their church’s lobby. Honestly, it couldn’t have been more beautiful. Andrea and Saiprakash participated in all of the regular traditions: a grand entrance, cake cutting, first dances. It was lovely.

Afterwards, we headed to Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia for portraits, and we could not have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was perfect, the sun was shining, and the love was palpable.

I felt so honored to be there photographing Andrea and Sai’s special day. Seriously, what a privilege to be one of the few in attendance to witness their marriage begin.
