Kensington Metropark in Milford, MI is one of my favorite locations for photo sessions! It’s an absolutely gorgeous, sprawling park with so many options for photos. Since I shoot there so often, I thought it would be helpful to put together a guide for clients who are interested in Kensington locations so you can see what each spot in the park offers. Here are some of my favorites!
The Farm Center’s main attraction is an actual farm with tons of adorable animals to see and pet: goats, donkeys, chickens, pigs, cows, horses, sheep, and ducks! There is also a concession stand with awesome ice cream, so this spot is a hit for families if you’d like to turn your photo session into a family fun day. But the Farm Center is more than just a farm; it boasts some beautiful landscaping if you head down a little pathway away from the animals. There’s a view of the lake, tall grass, and some pretty pathways and buildings.
And right across the street from the Farm Center is this beautiful open field!
Martindale Beach is a great spot for sunset sessions because the sun sets over the water here! In addition to the beach, there are tons of beautiful trees and the light filters through them in such a pretty way.
It photographs beautifully on an overcast day, as well!
The Nature Center has a lot of beautiful wooded trails and a gorgeous, neutral colored boardwalk along the water. You’ll also find large cranes walking around quite often, but they’re pretty used to people, don’t worry!
There is a $10 daily fee or a $40 annual fee to enter Kensington. If you live nearby, the annual permit is TOTALLY worth it! There is so much to do and see here.
If you can’t settle on one spot, I’m always down to go to a second location within the park for some variety! Just keep in mind that it’s takes a few minutes to drive between locations.
